Developmental apraxia of speech, also known as developmental verbal dyspraxia, is an oral motor speech-language disorder affecting children. The disability causes children to have problems communicating with others. Parents whose children are diagnosed with apraxia should seek intensive speech therapy (from a trained speech language pathologist, SLP) to assist their child with learning to talk.
